Not a smooth effect
I just posted a review about the manicure strip guides as well, because I love the French manicure look but haven't found the perfect method yet. I had high hopes for this pen and figured I could use it in combination with nail guides so I could get a good edge quickly. 2 problems, one of which no one else seemed to have so maybe I just got a bad pen... 1.) The liquid in the pen came out piecey/chunky. It looked like there were threads and fibers in it so it didn't give me a nice look. I though this might have just been the beginning of the pen so I tried to use a little bit to get it flowing better. It never happened. 2.) The first coat comes out too light to leave alone. I could still see my nail through the white. As one other reviewer posted, if I tried to apply a second coat, it rubbed off the first. It's similar to a dry erase board marker where you can't write over another marker after its dry. However, as a plus, the edge...

Not worth the $8
I was excited to use this French Tip pen because it's difficult to get a nice smooth line with regular brush polish. This pen made it easy to apply the polish where you want it, but as other reviews say, it came out clumpy and did appear to have fibers (maybe have been from the tip of the pen) that made the polish appear unfinished. You need at LEAST two coats, and again, as other reviews say, trying to put another coat on rips the first one off. If you actually manage to get the polish on white enough, it chips and peels off extremely easy. This pen is good for quick touch ups and that's about it. Don't purchase this if you are expecting to be able to give yourself nice French Tips, it's highly frustrating!!

Could Be Better
I found the pen to be somewhat helpful, but it could have been better. When I thought it was dry and tried polishing over it, it smeared. I also found the pen to sometimes dry in between uses. But it was ok.
